blogthingee adds themethingee

The new website is not ready... but that is not going to stop me from getting people to start using it. My dad always says 'the cobbler's children have no shoes'. My dad is not a cobbler, and yes... I always had shoes... however, I didn't always understand what that meant, and as I got older... I understood but never really 'got it'. Now that I have been knee deep in web design, development, building, and theming.. I get it, and it's soooo true. The current theme here at blothingee is a contrib theme from d.o, and some of the sites I do for myself, I seem to spend the lease amount of time theming. So I guess it could be said that the themer's site lacks luster.

First Contrib to Drupal.org

I am very excited to announce that I have found a way to contribute back to the Drupal community. It's my first ever adventure into CVS, and obviously my first theme.

FadeThingee

This fixed blog style layout can work with 1 or 2 sidebars. Features include and/or are inspired by some of my favorites from themes like basic, genesis, and zen. Users will likely enjoy the easy editing sidebars (hover menu), footer links area (for extra links), tableless, xhtml, css, validates w3c, and nifty icons (GPL) from Lullabot.

Theme regions & menus:
• Right sidebar
• Left sidebar

IE 6 yuck! Two choices for PNG Fix for not even a buck!

Am I the only one that wants a t-shirt that says "I Don't Support IE6"? Let's face it, not many people would get it, and I would just give the impression that I am a negative person. The fact is... I am a realist, and IE6 is going to be around for a while longer, at least long enough for me to keep finding newer better stronger ways to work around troublesome browser.

Getting InLine with the images and Drupal

Getting images to play nicely is not always easy. A content management system like Drupal has so many advantages, and so many options, and so many ideas. The options around images is no joke. Lots of options, lots of solutions, and benefits to many different choices. This blogthingee is to discuss one of those options, specifically, displaying images inline in Drupal 6.

No More Coda Envy, I got WeBuilder 2008

I have been envious of my MAC wielding friends since seeing the features and capabilities of the Coda text editor. I have used Dreamweaver, Notepad, Notepad++, and tried software such as Aptana (which I really like), Programmers Notepad, Komodo Edit, Top Style, and Ultra Edit. They all have some good features and do things well, but not quite what I wanted. I have just stumbled upon WeBuilder 2008 and I have to say that so far (it's been about 24 hours) I really like it! So I decided to create a quick blog entry to share this resource would be a good idea.

Three Tweak-Thingees For View Carousel

I spent a good deal of time working with views carousel in Drupal 6 yesterday. There is a great screencast at Mustardseed Media to help you hit the ground running. Before starting, please remember that you need the jcarousel module if you want it to work at all.

A Scheduler is a Workflow, but a Workflow is an Action and Trigger

There is more to maintaining a blog than writing stuff to share and hope someone reads it. The time involved, the technology to make it happen, the not to mention the shameless promotion. This blogthingee is about the tech behind the drop that gets some of the work done for you.

Test Blog

This is a test of the workflow module to schedule posts. If it works, I will post some detailed info on exactly HOW...

First Attempt Failed... I didn't have save post at the end of the set of actions.

Here it goes again...

Unique Class for Cool Drupal Menu Items

I spend the majority of my time around Drupal in the areas of website building and in the theme layer. Anytime I can find things to make my theming life easier in either... I take it.

One of the 'limitations' (using that friendly) is the options for theming. IMPORTANT to note... Drupal 6 ROCKS!! THEMING!!. One of the important 'additions' I try to create when working in the theme layer is to improve my ability to use CSS. Some sites require fancy, creative, and/or custom stuff revolving around menus.
